Where is my data stored? And is it safe and
secure there? |
|
Data stored in the Vault is housed on a la mode's redundant
servers in Oklahoma City and is backed up daily. Those
servers are then backed up nightly and weekly. We even go a step further than that. Weekly,
these files are transported under lock and key to the #1 data backup storage facility in the
country. This redundancy protects your data from natural and digital disaster, and allows you
to retrieve it at any time, even if one of our servers is temporarily down. |
|
Can I install the Vault on more than one machine? |
|
Yes, and that's part of the beauty of the Vault. Install
it on all the machines in your office or at home and you'll be able to easily port stored reports
from one computer to another with just the click of a few buttons. |
|
Can anyone else look at my files? |
|
No. Your files are fully password protected and secured.
Therefore, only you and those with whom you share your password can view your files. |
|
Why is the Vault better than my current means of
backup? |
|
Since CDs, ZIP disks, tape backups and other similar backup
systems are usually stored in or near your office, they are at equal risk should a natural
disaster hit your office. In addition, these media types are not always the most reliable.
In contrast, the Vault provides dual backup for your data in locations far removed from
your office. This means that in the event of a tornado, fire, flood or other natural disaster,
your data will be safe, secure and quickly retrievable, so you can be back in business in no
time while remaining USPAP compliant. |
|
How will I receive the Vault? |
|
When you purchase space on the Vault's servers, an e-mail
is sent to you which contains a download link, as well as your user information. All you
need to do is point your browser to the link, enter your user information, click Log In,
and then click the Install button. The Vault software will begin downloading. Once
it's completed the download process, click Finish. The Vault software is now
installed on your computer and ready for configuration. |
|
Will I be obligated to renew my Vault after the
first year? |
|
No. You are never obligated to use any of our
products. If you decide not to renew your account after the first year, simply download
your data before your account expires, and save it using your traditional method of backup. The
Vault will start letting you know within 30 days of your expiration to give you plenty of
warning and time. |
|
Can I use the Vault even though I'm not a WinTOTAL
user? |
|
Yes. When you configure the Vault, you have the
option of setting it to upload files created by other appraisal software packages. The
Vault currently supports the following software packages:
- WinTOTAL by a la mode, inc.
- Rapid Reportby ACI
- LightHouse by ACI
- AppraiseIt by Residential Appraisers
- Real Easy Appraisals by Wilson
- HighPerForm by United Systems
- Works and Nova Forms by Day One
- Appraisers Toolbox by Bradford Technologies.
|
|
How long does it take to use my Vault each day? |
|
The speed at which your reports are uploaded to the Vault
depends on a number of factors, including your modem speed, the number of people currently
uploading and downloading on your ISP, and the number of files being uploaded. Many of
our customers choose to use Vault’s scheduler to automatically upload files at night or during
other times when they are out of the office. That way, it doesn't interfere with your
daily business needs. |
|
Does updating the same file take additional storage
space? |
|
No. You may update the same appraisal file as often as you
like without worrying about losing additional storage space. For example, many appraisers
like to upload an appraisal from work, download it at home to make revisions, and then upload it
back to the Vault. You can do this as often as you like and not have your file storage
reduced each time. |
|
If I delete files from the Vault, will I get the
space back? |
|
Yes. You may delete files from your Vault account
and get the space the your files were occupying credited back. For example, if you have
space for 100 Vault files remaining and then delete five files, you would then have space for
105 Vault files. |
|
Does a la mode extract data from any of the files
on the Vault? |
|
No. Files are secure and belong to you. The
Vault doesn't do ANY conversion or reading of your files. It simply stores whatever you
upload and waits for you to get it back. Extracting data from files stored in the Vault
would be illegal and violates Gramm-Leach-Bliley. Even if a la mode were to be sold to
another entity, your files would remain yours, as stated in the license agreement. |
